Thermal lens spectroscopy (TLS)

The TLS technique enables highly sensitive measurements with low detection boundaries. It is based on the production of heat, by the periodical excitation of the sample. The result of the non-radiation release of energy absorbed by the saple in the heat gradient, which leads to changes of physical parameters (e.g. density, refractive index) of the sample and its surroundings. This method enables the measuring of the selected optical parameters with the sensitivity that cannot be achieved by using common techniques on the basis of the transmission measurements of the absorbance.
