Cell bank - biobank
printLocation: Biobanka d.o.o., Trzin
Time: 18:00 - 22:00
Visitors will take a peak into high tech laboratory in which human cells are grown to be used in life-saving therapies. Stem cell-rich cord bood, cord tissue and dental pulp are stored for future use at temperatures below –150 °C in a state of suspended animation. We will explore the freezing capacities of liquid nitrogen, the medium for long-term storage of cells and tissues. A look through a microscope will reveal how stem cells from cord tissue grow and multiply in a culture flask.
