Time: Stand - exhibition of products from 8:00 to 18:00; Workshops / demonstrations will be performed in four terms: 9:00, 11:00, 13:00 and 16:00.

At our stand we will present products made of wood in different shapes and forms (including cardboard and paper products, wood composites, musical instruments, tools, and wooden walls). These will represent the following product categories: solid wood, wood fibre products, and historic wood products (e.g. wooden wheel, rackets, etc.). Emphasis will be put on presenting qualities of wood beyond its mechanical properties: its naturalness, renewability and recyclability. In addition to the products, we will perform several demonstrations, that will allow participants to observe and experience some of the key characteristics of wood:

Building bridges – participants will use wooden sticks to design and build different bridges and test how much load each bridge design can bear;

Will it sink or will it float? – different species and types of wood have different physical properties. Visitors will be able to observe the density of different wood species as well as modified wood with a simple buoyancy test. They will be able to look at these wood samples under the microscope and learn how the different properties affect the use of wood as a material;

Strength of wood – visitors will be able to handle thin strips of wood, observing their flexibility and fragility. By fixing multiple strips of wood together, visitors will be able to observe how it's possible to combine materials into composites and improve their physical properties.
